In 2022, the world’s population reached approximately 8 billion people, marking a significant milestone in global demographic trends. Asia remained the most populous continent, home to nearly 60% of the world’s population, with China (about 1.4 billion) and India (slightly less but rapidly approaching China’s figure) as the two most populous countries. Africa continued to experience the fastest population growth, surpassing 1.4 billion people, with Nigeria leading as the continent’s most populous nation. Europe’s population hovered around 750 million, showing signs of stagnation or slight decline in some regions due to aging populations. The Americas accounted for roughly 1 billion people, with the United States (over 330 million) and Brazil (over 215 million) as the largest countries in North and South America, respectively. Oceania, including Australia and the Pacific islands, had the smallest population share, with around 43 million inhabitants.
