Jordan Population

Jordan has experienced significant population growth over the past several decades. In 1960, the country’s population was just over 900,000, but by 2024, it has surpassed 11 million. This rapid increase has been driven both by natural growth—Jordan has a relatively high birth rate compared to many other countries in the region—and by waves of immigration and refugees, particularly from neighboring countries affected by conflict, such as Palestine, Iraq, and Syria. The influx of refugees has placed pressure on Jordan’s resources, infrastructure, and services, especially in urban areas like Amman. Despite these challenges, Jordan continues to maintain a young and dynamic population, with a median age of around 24 years, which presents both opportunities and challenges for the country’s future development.
