Sudan Population

Sudan has experienced significant population growth over the past several decades. In the mid-20th century, the country’s population was estimated at around 10 million, but as of 2024, it has surpassed 48 million people. This rapid increase is driven by a high birth rate, with a large proportion of the population under the age of 25. Despite periods of conflict, economic challenges, and political instability, Sudan’s population continues to grow at an annual rate of about 2.4%. Urbanization is also on the rise, especially in cities like Khartoum and Omdurman, as people migrate from rural areas in search of better opportunities. This demographic trend presents both opportunities and challenges for Sudan’s development, particularly in terms of providing adequate services, education, and employment for its youthful population.
