Belgium Population

Belgium's population has experienced steady growth over the past century, albeit at a moderate pace compared to some other European countries. In the early 20th century, Belgium's population was around 7 million, and by 2000, it had grown to approximately 10 million. As of 2024, the population stands at about 11.7 million. This growth has been driven by a combination of natural increase and net migration, with immigration playing an increasingly significant role in recent decades. Urbanization and the concentration of people in cities such as Brussels, Antwerp, and Ghent have also shaped demographic trends. Despite the growth, Belgium faces challenges related to an aging population and regional differences in population density, particularly between the more densely populated Flanders and the less populated Wallonia.
