2021 Population

In 2021, the world’s population reached approximately 7.9 billion people, with significant variation across continents and regions. Asia remained the most populous continent, home to about 60% of the global population, with China (around 1.41 billion) and India (about 1.39 billion) as the two most populous countries. Africa’s population continued to grow rapidly, surpassing 1.3 billion, with Nigeria as its most populous country. Europe’s population was relatively stable at around 748 million, while Latin America and the Caribbean had about 660 million people, led by Brazil and Mexico. North America’s population was over 370 million, with the United States accounting for the majority at approximately 332 million. Oceania, including Australia and the Pacific Islands, had a much smaller share, with about 43 million inhabitants. These demographic patterns reflected ongoing trends of urbanization, migration, and differing rates of population growth across the globe.
