In 1992, the world’s population was estimated at approximately 5.5 billion people. Asia was the most populous continent, home to over 3 billion individuals, with China and India alone accounting for more than 1.1 billion and 850 million people respectively, making them the two most populous countries. Africa’s population was around 700 million, with Nigeria and Egypt as its most populous nations. Europe had about 730 million residents, led by Russia and Germany. North America’s population was close to 440 million, with the United States comprising about 255 million. Latin America and the Caribbean had roughly 450 million people, with Brazil and Mexico as the largest countries. Oceania, the least populated continent, had around 27 million inhabitants, the majority living in Australia. These demographic patterns reflected significant regional differences in population growth, density, and distribution across the globe in 1992.
