By the year 2087, the world’s population is projected to have reached approximately 10.5 billion people, reflecting slower growth compared to previous decades due to widespread urbanization, increased access to education, and declining fertility rates. Africa is expected to be the most populous continent, with over 4 billion inhabitants, driven by high birth rates in countries such as Nigeria, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Asia, while still densely populated with around 4 billion people, will see population stabilization or decline in countries like China and Japan, while India remains the most populous country globally. Europe’s population will have decreased to under 600 million, with aging demographics and low birth rates, particularly in Eastern and Southern Europe. The Americas will collectively approach 1.3 billion, with the United States, Brazil, and Mexico as the largest contributors, although growth rates will be modest. Oceania’s population, led by Australia and Papua New Guinea, will surpass 60 million. Urban regions, especially megacities in Africa and Asia, will dominate population distribution, while rural areas continue to decline in relative size.
