By the year 2069, the world’s population is projected to reach approximately 9.7 to 10 billion people, with significant demographic shifts across continents and regions. Africa is expected to experience the most dramatic growth, potentially doubling its population to around 2.5 billion, with Nigeria becoming the third most populous country globally. Asia will remain the most populous continent, but its growth will slow, with India likely surpassing China as the world’s most populous country, each with populations exceeding 1.4 billion. Europe’s population is anticipated to decline due to low birth rates and aging, while Latin America and the Caribbean will see moderate increases, reaching around 800 million. North America’s population will grow more slowly, primarily driven by immigration, with the United States reaching over 400 million. Oceania, including Australia, will also see gradual growth, though it will remain the least populous region. Urbanization will continue worldwide, with over two-thirds of people living in cities, and the global population will be older on average, presenting new social and economic challenges.
