By 2065, the world’s population is projected to reach approximately 9.7 billion people, according to United Nations estimates. Asia will remain the most populous continent, with over 5 billion inhabitants, though its growth rate will have slowed as countries like China and Japan experience aging populations and even population decline. Africa will see the most significant increase, potentially doubling its population to around 2.5 billion, with Nigeria emerging as the world’s third most populous country after India and China. Europe’s population is expected to shrink, falling below 700 million, due to low birth rates and an aging demographic. Latin America and the Caribbean will see modest growth, reaching nearly 800 million, while North America’s population will rise to about 430 million, driven by immigration and steady birth rates in the United States and Canada. Oceania, including Australia and the Pacific Islands, will approach 60 million people. Urbanization will intensify, with the majority of the world’s population living in cities, and megacities in Asia and Africa will become increasingly prominent on the global stage.
