Top Holy See Fish Catches

The Holy See, also known as Vatican City, is a landlocked microstate entirely surrounded by Rome, Italy, and does not possess any coastline, rivers, or lakes within its territory. As such, it has no fishing industry or recorded fish catches. The Vatican’s small population and unique religious and administrative functions mean that any seafood consumed within its walls is imported, primarily from Italy. Historically, the Holy See has played a significant role in shaping dietary practices for Catholics worldwide, including the tradition of eating fish on Fridays, but it has never developed a fishing industry of its own.
