Kyrgyzstan Population

Kyrgyzstan has experienced steady population growth over the past several decades. Since gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, the country's population has increased from around 4.3 million to approximately 7 million as of 2024. This growth has been driven by a relatively high birth rate, a youthful population structure, and, to a lesser extent, migration patterns both within the region and internationally. Despite periods of economic and political challenges, Kyrgyzstan’s population continues to rise, with urbanization trends leading more people to move to cities such as Bishkek and Osh. The population growth presents both opportunities and challenges for the country’s development, particularly in areas such as education, employment, and infrastructure.
