Indonesia Population

Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country, has experienced significant population growth over the past several decades. According to the latest estimates, Indonesia’s population surpassed 275 million in 2023, up from around 206 million in 2000. This growth has been driven by a combination of relatively high birth rates and declining mortality rates, although the pace of growth has gradually slowed as the country undergoes demographic transition. Urbanization has also played a major role, with more Indonesians moving to cities in search of better economic opportunities. While the government has implemented family planning programs to manage population growth, challenges remain in ensuring sustainable development and equitable resource distribution across the nation’s thousands of islands.
