Top Suco Croaker Fishing Countries

The suco croaker, commonly referred to as the yellow croaker (Larimichthys polyactis), is a commercially valuable demersal fish species found primarily in the northwest Pacific, especially in the coastal waters of China, Korea, and Japan. Known for its mild flavor and tender flesh, the yellow croaker supports a significant fishing industry in East Asia. China is by far the leading country in both wild capture and aquaculture production of suco croaker, with large-scale fisheries operating in the Yellow Sea and East China Sea. South Korea and Japan also maintain active fisheries for this species, though on a smaller scale compared to China. Overfishing and habitat degradation have led to stock declines in the past, prompting stricter regulations and the growth of croaker aquaculture, particularly in China, to meet continued high demand in regional markets.
