Top Rosy Rockfish Fishing Countries

The rosy rockfish (*Sebastes rosaceus*) is a deep-water species found primarily along the Pacific coast of North America, recognized by its pink to reddish coloration and preference for rocky reefs at depths of 30 to 490 meters. This species is valued for its mild, flaky flesh and is commonly caught as part of the broader rockfish fishery. The top countries harvesting rosy rockfish are the United States and Mexico, with the U.S. (particularly California) being the primary producer due to the species’ abundance off its Pacific coastline. The commercial and recreational rockfish fisheries in these regions are tightly managed to prevent overfishing, given the slow growth and late maturity of rosy rockfish. Canada also records minor catches, especially off British Columbia, but the bulk of the harvest remains centered in U.S. and Mexican waters, where the species contributes to local seafood markets and the fishing industry’s economic stability.
