The Yellow Bobo, also known as the Yellow Croaker (Larimichthys polyactis), is a commercially important demersal fish found primarily in the Northwest Pacific, especially in the coastal waters of China, Korea, and Japan. Characterized by its yellowish body and distinctive croaking sounds, this species is highly prized for its delicate flesh and is a staple in East Asian cuisine. China is by far the leading country in Yellow Bobo fishing, with large-scale commercial fleets operating in the Yellow Sea and East China Sea, followed by South Korea and, to a lesser extent, Japan. The fishing industry for Yellow Bobo is significant in these countries, supporting both local consumption and export markets, although overfishing and habitat degradation have led to concerns about stock sustainability and prompted the development of aquaculture and stricter fisheries management in recent years.
