Top Vadigo Fishing Countries

The vadigo (Campogramma glaycos), sometimes known as the vadigo jack, is a lesser-known pelagic fish species in the Carangidae family, closely related to jacks and trevallies. Recognized for its streamlined body and silvery-blue coloration, the vadigo inhabits subtropical and temperate waters of the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. While not a major target of large-scale commercial fisheries, the vadigo is caught incidentally by artisanal and small-scale fishers, particularly in countries such as Portugal, Spain, Morocco, and Italy. These nations harvest vadigo primarily through coastal netting and line fishing, with catches often sold fresh in local markets. Though the species does not support a significant global fishery, it contributes to the diversity of regional Mediterranean and Atlantic fisheries, supplementing the catches of more commercially valuable species.
