The Top King Soldier Bream (Argyrops spinifer), also known as the king soldier bream or soldier seabream, is a demersal fish species found primarily in the Indo-West Pacific region, including the waters of the Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea, and parts of Southeast Asia. This species is highly valued for its firm, white flesh and is a significant target for commercial and artisanal fisheries. The leading countries involved in harvesting the Top King Soldier Bream include Iran, India, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan, where it is caught using trawls, gillnets, and handlines. The fish is an important part of local diets and is also exported to international seafood markets, contributing to the economy of these coastal nations. Overfishing and habitat degradation, however, pose challenges to the sustainability of king soldier bream populations, prompting some countries to implement management measures to ensure the long-term viability of this valuable resource.
