Top Jinga Shrimp Fishing Countries

Jinga shrimp (Metapenaeus affinis), also known as "kada shrimp" or "Indian jinga shrimp," is a commercially valuable species found in the Indo-West Pacific region, particularly in shallow coastal waters and estuaries. This medium-sized shrimp is highly prized for its tender meat and is a staple in both domestic consumption and export markets. The leading jinga shrimp fishing countries are India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Iran, where traditional artisanal fisheries and commercial trawlers actively harvest this species. India is by far the largest producer, with the west coast—especially the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra—being significant hubs for jinga shrimp landings. These countries have developed robust supply chains for both fresh and processed jinga shrimp, catering to local culinary traditions and international demand, particularly from Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
