Top Eelpout Fishing Countries

Eelpout, belonging to the family Zoarcidae, are elongated, bottom-dwelling marine fish found primarily in cold and temperate waters of the Northern Hemisphere. Known for their slimy appearance and adaptability to deep-sea environments, eelpouts are not typically targeted by large-scale commercial fisheries but are often caught as bycatch in trawl fisheries. The top eelpout fishing countries include Russia, Norway, and Iceland, where these fish are sometimes processed for fishmeal or consumed locally. In these regions, particularly in the Barents Sea and North Atlantic, eelpout are harvested alongside other groundfish species.
