Top Bluestriped Chub Fishing Countries

The Bluestriped Chub (Kyphosus vaigiensis), also known as the brassy chub, is a medium-sized, herbivorous reef fish recognized by its elongated body and distinctive blue horizontal stripes. Found in tropical and subtropical waters of the Indo-Pacific, this species is particularly common around coral and rocky reefs. While not a primary target of large-scale commercial fisheries, the Bluestriped Chub is locally important in artisanal and subsistence fisheries, especially in countries such as Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, where it is caught using nets and handlines. In Hawaii and parts of the Pacific Islands, it is also valued as a food fish and sometimes caught by recreational anglers. Though its economic impact is modest compared to more commercially valuable species, the Bluestriped Chub contributes to local diets and supports small-scale fishing communities across its range.
